If Sphinx were Alec's themed album of the decade beginning 30AD, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame is his album of 1130's, then this album must surely be his album themed around the 1970's. Based around the story of an unhappy couple, it begins with a spoken passage - like many of Alec's albums. Soon, the driving disco beat kicks in and Alec is at his best with funky dance tracks like "Dance and leave it all behind you". Perhaps this album will be best remembered, however, for the track "The man from the stars". Cuts from this album were released as a 12" single by Casablanca. This album is unusual in not being recorded at the Trident Studios in London. |
